What duct cleaning actually does
Over the years, ducts collect dust, pet dander, pollen and — in humid Florida — sometimes mold. Cleaning removes that buildup so it does not recirculate through your home every time the system runs.
When it is worth doing
- You see dust puffing from vents when the system starts
- Musty smells when the AC runs (possible mold in ducts or air handler)
- Recent renovation or construction dust in the home
- You just moved into a home with an unknown maintenance history
- Allergy symptoms that ease when you leave the house
When it is not the fix
If your problem is high bills or weak airflow, the cause is more often duct leaks, a failing blower, or an undersized system — cleaning alone will not fix those. A proper inspection will tell you which problem you actually have.
What helps air quality just as much
A good filter (MERV 8–11 for most homes), sealed duct joints, and keeping the indoor coil and drain pan clean do as much for air quality as a duct cleaning. Ask about our duct inspection — we will show you photos of what is inside before recommending anything.
